Niima Outpost was a settlement on the desert planet of Jakku founded by and named after Niima the Hutt.

Description[edit]

A settlement on the desert planet of Jakku,[2] Niima Outpost was the only source of life for four hundred kilometers in any direction,[3] and was surrounded by deserts containing the wrecked hulks of Imperial Star Destroyers after the Battle of Jakku. It was home to scavengers and traders,[2] many of whom were as inhospitable as their surroundings, and featured a large, tented community structure in the center of the settlement with workbenches for scavengers to clean their scrap. The Crolute junk boss Unkar Plutt ran an exchange booth where he exchanged scrap for ration packs through a service portal and its transfer drawer. The booth itself boasted a solid suspended ceiling and durable metal plates fashioned from a rusted sandcrawler.[3]

The settlement gave off very little light pollution.[2]

History[edit]

"You tell every girl from Niima to Cratertown: If they're going hungry, The Blobfish has got extra portions to stuff those pretty mouths full! I'm a Crolute of my word."
―Unkar PluttThe Essential Guide to Erotica Characters

After Niima the Hutt escaped to Jakku and helped a group of New Republic mercenaries track down Gallius Rax, she set up a scavenger outpost for salvage, naming the settlement after herself.[1]

The scavenger Rey brought her wares to Niima Outpost after salvaging parts from the Starship Graveyard in the surrounding desert, bringing them to the central community structure for cleaning, and attempted to exchange them for Portions with Unkar Plutt. He offered a quarter-portion and accused Rey of being too thin, which the girl took offense to.[3]
