Description[edit]

Overview[edit]

Jedi used the Force, a power they could call upon to heal injuries and sense other individuals. Its practice took years of study, and only those gifted and focused enough could come close to mastering its techniques.[3]

Jedi were trained in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.[3]

Training[edit]

Jedi were trained by a Master, and underwent basic training in the Jedi Temple that included medical practices.[3]

Way of life[edit]

Being raised as a Jedi left members of the organization with little interest in the more wild and depraved pleasures of the flesh. Attachments were forbidden, and a Jedi was expected not to fall in love, for fear that their passions and desires would lead to the dark side. Jedi lived a celibate life, although some continued to be plagued by carnal thoughts, and considered giving up the Force in order to indulge their passions.[3]

Jedi wore robes and tunics as part of their attire. Anakin Skywalker dressed in dark clothing,[4] while Obi-Wan Kenobi wore light, tan-colored tunics and pants.[1]

Hierarchy[edit]

The titles of Jedi Knight[1] and Jedi Master referred to types of Jedi.[2]

History[edit]

Obi-Wan Kenobi served as a young Jedi Knight.[1]

With too few Jedi to oppose Emperor Palpatine, many fell to his sinister agents and the Jedi Temple was left in ruins. Palpatine's New Order rose to rule the galaxy, and Jedi who revealed themselves rather than remaining hidden fell to Imperial agents.[3]

Kanan Jarrus, once the apprentice of Master Depa Billaba, left the Jedi and joined Captain Hera Syndulla's crew aboard the Ghost to conduct strikes against the Galactic Empire. He used the Force to heal her after an injury on Nuri, and Hera thanked him by making love to him in her bunk.[3]
