Garik Loran worked as an actor in his youth, and portrayed Luke Skywalker in the holofilm Luke Skywalker and the Dragons of Tatooine, performing alongside Wynssa Starflare as Camie Marstrap and Javul Charn as Bresenni Tonnika. The two actresses served as his competing love interests on a quest to defeat the Grand Krayt.[1]
During the era of the First Order, news circulated that Tri-Nebula Entertainment had acquired the rights to produce a sequel to Luke Skywalker and the Dragons of Tatooine, to be filmed on Adarlon using the new Holo-Fantasizer v3.751, and that the original film's three stars were returning to reprise their roles.[2]

Loran's work continued to circulate during the era of the Resistance. Members of the Church of the Force spread copies of Luke Skywalker and the Dragons of Tatooine around Niima Outpost on Jakku, offering a starkly different view from other holodramas censored by the Imperial Press Corps.[1]
The young scavenger Rey watched the film and took a liking to Loran, finding him charming and cute. She pictured him whenever she thought about Skywalker, considering him a folklore hero,[1] and Loran figured into many of her dreams afterwards. She considered picturing him when working as a prostitute in Old Meru's in New Reslia, hoping that any of her clients might compare to the actor, and tried to imagine Kherris Quenton as the handsome holostar, though the fantasy didn't improve her enjoyment.[3] She later considered writing to Loran to become a holofilm producer while considering her future aboard the Millennium Falcon.[1]

As a young actor, Garik Loran was considered charming and cute in roles such as Luke Skywalker in Luke Skywalker and the Dragons of Tatooine, though lacked passion in his face-to-face kisses with co-star Wynssa Starflare. He wore Jedi robes in the role of Skywalker.[1]
