The Delegation of 2,000 was a political group in the Galactic Senate of the Republic that hoped to end Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine's emergency powers and his stranglehold on democracy. Its members drafted the Petition of 2,000 presented to Palpatine, but he quashed the Delegation and had some of its proponents arrested.

The Delegation of 2,0000 existed as a group of fellow politicians in the Galactic Republic, alongside other such groups as the Loyalist Committee[1] and the Novas.[2]

The Delegation of 2,000 included senators and politicians of groups such as the Loyalist Committee[1] and the Novas,[2] and shared overlap with the quiet resistance formed by Bail Organa and Mon Mothma in the Senate.[4] Nee Alavar, a member of both the Delegation and the Loyalists, took numerous lovers among her fellow politicians, and engaged in a quick and heated affair with Bana Breemu.[1] Breemu helped draft the Petition of 2,000, and courted Mothma and Padmé Amidala into a threesome during the drafting process,[5] hoping to end Palpatine's stranglehold on the democratic process.[6] There were several signatories of the Petition of 2,000, including Terr Taneel and her lovers.[4]
Ultimately, the petition was presented to Sheev Palpatine[5] before the Galactic Empire came to power. Lovers Alavar and Breemu attempted to evade Imperial forces, but Alavar was arrested and died in 19 BBY.[1] The petition to reign in Palpatine's emergency powers proved futile,[7] and the Delegation itself was quashed by Palpatine once he assumed power, though he continued to face opposition from other resistance groups, including members of the former Delegation.[3]
